I'm a 12 year old girl, and people are calling me fat. Advice please?

People call me fat every time I wear shorts. It kind of hurts my feelings, but I think I'm fat, too. I'm really embarrassed to run in gym, and I'm embarrassed to wear shorts. Do you have any advice for me? I just want to lose a few pounds, so I don't have ';thunder thighs'; as people call them. At your age, your peers can be mean. I suggest talking to your doctor to see if you actually are overweight. If you are, you need to exercise and eat healthy. You can exercise from your own home - there are plenty of workout dvds that may be helpful. If your doctor does not think you are overweight, then it's their problem, not yours. One of the reasons your weight is a little more than you want right now is because your right at puberty and your body will make a little more fat for hormones. The only healthy way to lose weight is to burn more calories than you eat in a day and to choose foods like whole grains, 2% or less milk, eat ffresh ruits and vegetables and drink water-lots. if your a soda drinker then try Diet Dr. Pepper...its the best one out there-no soda is best however. Regualr soda will put 20lbs on a person in a month. Go for a walk, play Wii, or just take up running at a park where no one knows you. Just move your body and eat right and the weight will not be an issue. I'm sorry people say hurtful things to you, that sucks, but don't let them control your mood. you have the control over your weight, it just may take a little effort. My best to you.

First of all, you are in middle school, am I right? Most people are very immature in middle school, but the cruel names should stop by high school.





Second of all, you really shouldn't be embarrassed to run in a gym. Just wear sweats if you're too shy to wear shorts, and listen to some music as you run. This will take your concentration off of other people (who, by the way, are also trying to lose weight).





You could also just try doing a cardio video inside your own home, or doing crunches or lunges or something in between TV show commercials. The little things DO add up.

Watch what you eat. Do NOT snack (especially within 2 hours of going to bed). Eat more wholesome foods with whole wheat, and protein. Cut out fast food, junk food etc. Work out 30 minutes a day and drink LOTS of water. Get enough sleep and stay on a schedule. Not only will this help you lose weight, but it'll make you feel physically healthier inside.





As for the other people who call you fat, ignore what they say. If they're going to judge you like that then they're not worth being your friend.

I know it's easier said than done, but try to just let these comments wash over you. Don't let their nasty remarks change your mood. If you won't go to the gym, try cutting out all the fattening foods in your diet, like crisps, cheese, chips, chocolate..etc. This can make the world of difference. Listen to this. Don't be embarrassed to run at the gym. People aren't there to see some 12 year old girl. Nor do they care. Also, you probably need to get more active and start eating more healthy.

and why dont you try exercising at home if you still feel uncomfortable


by eating healthy and exercising your legs with certain exercises im sure you will lose a few pounds like you want
