I didn't really count travel time into the itinerary, but I'll do that for the final itinerary!Searching for advice from people who have done a backpacking trip through Europe?
First of all, in a travel like this you will not remember where you saw what, as you will be extremely tired, have no time to get adjusted and are flitting all over the place.
Remember that the UK, so London, is not part of the Eurail pass system.
Do not break a stay in a town to visit an other town and return later.
You will loose half a day twice with practical things like checking out of and into a hotel and travel.
Most travels you suggest will take more than just one day or one overnight trip, often half a day/night more.
Even when you fly you will loose most of a day on most of those trips.
You miss the best of Europe, the small towns and all cities will become a blur as you put to many in to short a time.
If you only have 18 day to backpack Europe you better do two countries, like France and Italy and even then you will overfill your plans.
London and Paris rate 5 days each, the rest of the cities at least 2 full days, that is mostly 3 nights. And add one more day to that at the start of your trip as you will be yetlagged, tired and need to arrange the practical things of traveling.Searching for advice from people who have done a backpacking trip through Europe?
Think about starting in Dublin. Then you can take a trip to Belfast, and then go to London. From there you can circle around Germany and end up there for your b'day.
